Wallace Zane

Lecturer in Anthropology


Dr. Zane is a cultural anthropologist who has major research projects in the Eastern Caribbean and among various Southern California subcultures. His ongoing research among surfers examines surfer violence in competition for wave resources and the economic and technical logic of surfboard design. Zane is the author of Journeys to the Spiritual Lands: The Natural History of a West Indian Religion and Taxi Inferno, an ethnography about taxicab drivers in Southern California.
